Quick guide
Subtitles made from the speech in your video
Upload a video and the speech is written out for you, then cut into short subtitle lines that each stay on screen while they are being said. The timing comes from the audio itself, not from an even split of the runtime, so a pause leaves the screen clear.
The subtitles are burned into the video, so they show on every app and every phone, with no setting for the viewer to switch on. Pick a ready-made look or set your own font, colours, size and position.
If you need the subtitles as a separate file, for YouTube or a course site, take the same upload as SRT or VTT instead.
- Timed from the speech, line by line.
- Burned in, so they show everywhere.
- No account and no watermark on the full video.
Common questions
Is the subtitle generator free?
Yes. The full video is free, with no account and no watermark.
Can I edit the subtitles?
Yes. Read the subtitles in a preview cut from your own video, correct any word, and the full video uses your wording.
Can I get an SRT file instead?
Yes. Choose Transcribe after you upload, or use the Video to SRT page. You get SRT and VTT subtitle files, plus TXT and Word.
What language are the subtitles in?
In the language that is spoken. To put them in another language, Translate Dub adds translated subtitles to the same video.
